JUN O7 2019

Mr. George Bridge
Chair, Board of Health
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Health Unit

Dear Mr. Bridge:

I am pleased to advise you that the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care will provide the
Board of Health for the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Health Unit up to $869,100 in additional
base funding for the 2019-20 funding year to support the new dental program for low
income seniors. This program aims to prevent chronic disease, reduce infections and
improve quality of life, while reducing burden on the health care system.

Dr. David Williams, Chief Medical Officer of Health, will write to the Wellington-DufferinGuelph
Health Unit shortly concerning the terms and conditions governing this funding.

A dental program for low-income seniors is a key example of the public health sector’s
important role in supporting and addressing the needs of vulnerable populations to help
prevent disease, complications and hospitalizations.

We will be working closely with our key delivery partners in the public health sector over the
coming weeks and months ahead to support implementation of this program.
Thank you for your dedication and commitment to public health in this province.

Sincerely,

Christine Elliott

Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and Long-Term Care
